Parent Weekly Update 04/07/17

Hi Parents,

Well, it’s Spring Break time. First, I want to thank everyone who is being so diligent in letting us know when your child is not attending group in advance. For example, last night’s teen group had less attendance than usual, but every single absence had been reported in advance. Makes the start of group much more efficient, since we’re not waiting for students who will not be coming that night.

Next Week's Group Schedule.

For the week starting 4/10, we have one group meeting:
  • 6-8:  Tuesday, April 11, from 4 to 6 PM. Regular Office Meeting. Drop off and pick up at Gelsons. (This group’s community outing is in two weeks, 4/25)

Parent Webinar and  Meetings

Webinar:  Our Monthly Parent Webinar will be occurring on Wednesday, April 12. If you need to register, click here. You are welcome to bring up any topics you wish to clarify prior information, but we will also be discussing what kinds of social skills you are trying to help support and how that is occurring. Feel free to send me questions in advance and, of course you can participate online through active conversation and/or written questions.

Parent Meetings: This month Parent meetings will be held on the following dates:

·      Saturday, 4/15, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm
·      Wednesday, 4/19, 12pm-1:30pm
·      Wednesday, 4/19, 7pm-8:30pm

Are You Interested in Sending Your Child to the Summer Program?
We have already heard from about a dozen families and I will send out our first mass mailing the beginning of next week to clinicians and agencies, which will likely fill up the group. If you are interested in learning more, please click here to read through a recent post where I covered this in more detail. You can also find information on the updated www.lunchgroups.com website.

Getting Ready to Say "Goodbye for Now"

Next month, May, will be our final two sessions for the School Year programs. That mean you still have time to attend webinars, parent drop in meetings, and ask questions or discuss situations. Many of you have both attended webinars and drop in meetings. But some have attended neither. It may be your family situation hasn't permitted this level of involvement or that you are not finding the information useful. However, if there is anything you wish to review, I highly encourage you to attend one of the three upcoming Parent Meetings. Families who have come bring up a broad range of topics, including: generalizing group gains; managing technology, school assessments; how to effectively participate in IEP meetings; and adjunct services, just to name a few. If you haven't accessed the videos, they will be available until the end of May, then your access will expire.

If I can do anything to make your group participation more meaningful, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thanks for reading through this. Feel free to be in touch if you have any questions.
